OAR Contemporary Art Museum is a private institution founded by Gyeongju-born collector Moonho Kim, based on a personal collection of approximately 600 works he began acquiring in 2005. After over four years of preparation beginning in 2021, the museum officially opened its doors in April 2025.
The name “OAR” stands for “Beauty You Encounter Today.” It reflects the museum’s mission to offer visitors moments of beauty and inspiration—experiences that evoke emotions often overlooked in everyday life, and that have the potential to enrich and uplift their lives through the power of art.
OAR Contemporary Art Museum strives to present exhibitions that can be enjoyed even by those unfamiliar with art. We aim to create an open and welcoming space where everyone can encounter and experience beauty in their own way.
We seek ways to bring art closer to life—art that resonates with people, invites them to pause, and becomes a meaningful part of their everyday experience.
